Photo Gallery -
This ash tree stood as a group of three. Two were blown over in high winds onto sheds and gardens, leaving this one leaning towards a house. The full canopy of ivy may have been a contributory factor in the collapse of these trees, although there was evidence of internal decay. Burrowing insects lived within the ivy, creating entry points for decay.

The chalk grassland is a very important asset to the nation, and the restoration and upkeep of this area is managed by the White Cliffs Countryside Project. Much of the area had become overgrown, creating woodland that is unable to sustain the chalk fauna and flora for which the area is renowned.
